Drugs and How They Work Course Description Are you up-to-date on drug pharmacology? Do you have a working knowledge of what makes drugs addictive? Are you familiar with the “inside story” behind addictive behaviours? If you want to learn more, this course is for you! In this course, learners will have the opportunity to: · Study how illicit and licit drugs produce certain effects and side effects · Investigate how drugs are used, distributed, metabolized and excreted from the body · Define critical pharmacological terms, such as pharmacokinetics, tolerance and withdrawal · Distinguish between the major drug classes and how their effects differ
Note: This course or its equivalent is required for all addiction counsellors, CCAs, nurses and recreation therapists.
Instructor Information – Dr. David Cook You may request a certificate upon completion of the course.

Outdoor Movie Night The Yellowhead Region Drug Action Committee will organize a family outdoor movie night that travels to each community in the region. Watch for the Outdoor Movie coming to Edson in Spring or early Summer 2008.
